Registration information
Secure Your Spot — Early Registration Opens March 25!
If your swimmer participated in at least two meets last season and you volunteered, you're eligible for early registration starting March 25.
Spots on the team are limited — register early to avoid missing out!
Watch your inbox for an email with your exclusive, non-shareable registration link.
Don’t wait — once we hit our swimmer limit, we can’t make exceptions.
General Registration opens April 1st - May 31st!
The Villager Piranhas are one of four teams in the Briar Forest Swim League.
ELIGIBILITY
We welcome swimmers from the following neighborhoods: April Village, Country Village, Heathwood, Epernay, Lakeview Forest, Village Place, Village West, and Woods of Lakeside.
If you live west of Dairy Ashford, south of Westheimer, east of Wilcrest, and north of Buffalo Bayou, and are new to the league, you are considered in “open territory” and may choose any team to join.
Once a swimmer has competed for a team, they are expected to remain with that team unless they apply for a transfer or their current team is full
Children between the ages of 4 and 18 (as of May 31st) are welcome to join.
Swim Team Readiness Guidelines for Children
Our summer swim team is open to beginners, but for safety and success, children should meet these minimum requirements:
- Comfort in water: Able to enter the water without fear and stay calm.
- Basic independence: Can float, tread water, or dog paddle for 15–30 seconds.
- Short-distance swimming: Can swim about 5–10 feet unassisted, using any style.
- No strokes needed: Formal strokes are not required — we’ll teach those!
- Ready to learn: Able to follow directions and participate in group activities.
If your child isn’t quite there yet, we’re happy to recommend swim lessons to help them get ready for a future season.
To participate in a meet (by June), children MUST be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) freestyle in 75 seconds or less. They will have had a month of practice to accomplish this before the first meet.
HOW MEETS WORK / VOLUNTEERING
Parent Volunteers Make It All Happen!
Other than our coaches, the Villager Piranhas are run entirely by parent volunteers — and we can’t run swim meets without your help!
ALL families are expected to volunteer at meets. Dual Meets and Champs offer two shift options to accommodate working parents.
👉 Sign up early to get your preferred spot — we need YOU to keep things running smoothly!
Meet Sign-Up & Planning
Swimmers must RSVP by the deadline to be entered into each meet.
RSVP through the team website under the “Signups” tab.
Each meet requires extensive planning:
- Swimmers receive seed times for each stroke during Time Trials.
- Entries are submitted to the League and used to seed the meet.
- Heat sheets with names, events, heats, and lanes are created in advance.
- Heat and lane assignments are based on seed times.
- No practice is held on meet days.
